Members’ meeting: The Digital Services Act with Sebastian Schwemer (In English)

In the meeting, Sebastian Schwemer will talk about The Digital Services Act proposed by the EU commission.

The Digital Services Act is hailed as the major overhaul of the 20 years-old European framework governing information on the Internet and the role of intermediaries across the stack. What is the envisioned role for intermediaries such as internet access service providers, DNS intermediaries online platforms and very-large online platforms? How is the balance between automated content moderation and user rights proposed to be struck?

Sebastian is an Associate Professor at the Centre for Information and Innovation Law (CIIR) at the University of Copenhagen and an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Oslo’s Norwegian Research Center for Computers and Law (NRCCL). http://jura.ku.dk/schwemer 

As part of the European Digital Strategy, Shaping Europe’s Digital Future, it was announced that the European Commission would upgrade the rules governing digital services in the EU. The European Commission proposed two legislative initiatives: the Digital Services Act (DSA) and the Digital Markets Act (DMA).
